IEHP now runs its own NEMT trips.
Inland Empire Health Plan serves Medi-Cal members in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Since May 12, 2026 it manages NEMT trips itself instead of through Call the Car, which still coordinates NMT.

The May 2026 change
IEHP’s provider notice of May 11, 2026 says: “Beginning Tuesday, May 12, 2026, all Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) trips will be managed directly by IEHP, rather than through Call the Car (CTC).” Call the Car continues to coordinate NMT. IEHP’s member page adds that “in most cases, your transportation provider will also stay the same.”
For a transportation company this means two sources of trips from one plan: NEMT from IEHP and NMT from Call the Car, each with its own trip format and its own contacts. Medical offices keep sending NEMT requests through IEHP’s secure Provider Portal, and IEHP gives a direct number for its Transportation team.
Notice and hours
Since September 5, 2024 IEHP has required at least five calendar days’ notice for NEMT requests; requests with less notice are not guaranteed and depend on availability. Hospital discharges and dialysis are exempt. The transportation call center is open Monday to Friday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; members reach it through Member Services and the transportation prompt.
In June 2026 IEHP added “Wait and Return” fields to hospital and skilled nursing facility requests in its portal, for trips where the van waits and brings the member back.
The PCS form
IEHP uses its own DHCS-approved PCS form. According to its member page, a member’s PCS is valid for all NEMT requests for 12 months from the transportation start date, which covers a year of standing orders such as dialysis.
Not in the plan’s published documents
We couldn’t confirm these from IEHP’s own pages, so ask the plan or its vendor:
- How a transportation company joins IEHP’s NEMT network after the May 2026 change.
- The claim form, codes and filing deadline IEHP applies to transportation claims.
Running IEHP trips in MileCall
IEHP’s NEMT trips and Call the Car’s NMT trips can be set up as two payers, each with its own file mapping, rates and trip sheet columns, in the same day’s schedule.
Dialysis riders’ standing orders roll 90 days ahead with exception dates and holidays, and the authorization’s 12-month range is checked in the trip form.
MileCall isn’t connected to IEHP or its vendor; trips come in as files you upload.
